Dear members,
For this year’s Lunar New Year, we will be organising a morning ride around the island, to work up an appetite to support a great cause.
For those of you who cannot make it to the ride - please still follow the registration (no ride) where you can donate some money for the charity.
For the Riders, we are starting at HDS (but of course!) and after our route and safety briefing, head west to touch the near end of Tuas, before heading up north towards Lum Chu Kang, Jalan Bahar to cross over the Kranji Reservoir via Kranji Way.
We will then tap back into the TPE for a short ride to get some speed and air, before turning off onto Tampines road to gun (almost!) straight through Serangoon to arrive at our lunch destination – Dignity Kitchen, where lunch and new friends await us.
Project Dignity runs Dignity Kitchen and is a social service organisation that helps create work opportunities for the physically challenged, disadvantaged or marginalised members of society. The Kitchen trains and then hires individuals with physical or psychological challenges that may make them difficult to be hired by many businesses. As such, Dignity Kitchen gives these members of our society an opportunity to make a living and be a contributing member of society. More details on them can be found here: https://projectdignity.sg/about-us/
Dignity Kitchen also runs a meal program, where the staff cook hot meals for the underprivileged every day, which are collected from the kitchen, or delivered by the staff to nearby residents. They run a Pay It Forward program where members of the public can sponsor meals for the underprivileged, at the cost of $3.50 per meal per person.
Special parking arrangements will be made for us, and we will be able to park along their beautiful mural wall, that was painted by their own trainees.
Members of Dignity Kitchen will join us for a (social distanced!) lunch, and some of our bikes will be placed inside Dignity Kitchen for the all-important photo opportunity. Lunch will be organised in accordance to prevailing social distancing rules, so please do not intermingle!
We will pre-order or meals in advance, so do look out for details via email. Do note that the Dignity Kitchen is Halal Certified and provides vegetarian options as well.
For those that would like to provide joy rides to our new friends, please bring a long a spare helmet for the pillions.
Program for the day:
- 9.30am: Meet at HDS for safety and route briefing
- 10am: Push off from HDS for the ride
- 11.30am to 12pm: Arrive at Dignity Kitchen
- 12pm to 1pm: Lunch & Presentation by Dignity Kitchen founder Seng Choon

And to all our Chinese members, Gong Xi Fa Cai!
